I know that one day I will get this down....you know, where I will post the day OF the actual event. Maybe. I think people who don't live second shift, like we do during the week might have it a little easier. Other peoples kids go to bed at like 9pm and then you have time to post "day of" events. My kids go to bed at midnight....therefore, leaving me Zero time to post. No big deal.
Anyway, Of course I worked the night before and the night of Fathers Day. However, I think we were all able to have an enjoyable time. The whole family came over and we made roast beef and Ruben sandwiches (my dads request). I gave my dad a Simpson's card...it was quite funny and PERFECT for him. It had Homer and Lisa on the front and Homer is trying to hand Lisa a donut for breakfast. She says something to the effect of I want some fruit dad. Homer then replied....It has Purple filling inside...purple is a fruit!" For those of you who know my dad...that is just the kind of thing he tries to get away with. I also got him a beta fish. He used to have a HUGE, beautiful tank full of expensive fish. That is...until he met my mom and moved in with 3 little rug rats. (Kim-9, Chris-5, and me-4) We never had fish before my dad came into our lives, so we liked to take them out of the tank and pet them....just until they stopped moving then we would toss them back in. We were nice like that. The few that survived that were then fed candy corn and oregano. I don't think there were ANY survivors. Sorry Dad.
Of course we celebrated John and the fact that he is a good Daddy to Julia and Bryce. He got a few new tools, a sun block/visor for the jeep dash, a little survival kit for the jeep, and a nice new propane grill. Plus a few cute cards. Aunt Kim even came over and helped Julia make Daddy a card! Thank You aunt KIM!
All in all, great day! I'm so thankful for the men in my life and for all they do for me. My dad is there for me A LOT. If I need a few curtains hung, he is there, when John was in Iraq he rotated baby sitting with my mom and aunt Barbara! Even tonight he came by, just for me....and helped me fix my disc drive on my computer! Thank you dad for all you do!
John is also a good husband and dad. He always reads Julia bed time stories. He is Mr Mom when I'm at work (at night). He feeds, bathes and puts the kids to bed, by himself. This is no simple task as we have created fairly (ok, ok, VERY) dependant children. Bryce still wakes up at least once (more often twice) in the middle of the night to eat and be rocked! What a good daddy! I honestly can NOT imagine how hard it must have been for John when I was at work this past year. Bryce had colic at first. Then he is dependant on nursing to fall asleep, but somehow John not only managed, but excelled at caring for and loving both of our children. He loves us with ALL his heart. Tonight he even helped me hang a new baby gate at the top of the stairs! I won't tell you that we didn't fight while we hung it up, but hey he helped me and that's a start! Love ya babe! Thank you for being the man in my life. Happy Fathers Day!
