Hurry Up and Wait!

I feel like I'm in a holding pattern at this time. We are all excited about baby brother and can't wait for him to come. Now that I'm 35 1/2 weeks, I wouldn't feel quite as worried if he came now. With that said, he could also wait until Monday....that would be 36 weeks. I'm excited, anxious, nervous....lots of emotions.
I've been trying to spend good bonding moments with Julia. She knows she is loved. We have enjoyed having her as our first born. She is such a wonderful little girl. Time does not stand still for anyone and it is so easy to see that with a baby to toddler. She has grown in so many ways and with the help of all of our family. She is so verbal. She is a girl that knows what she wants. I always let her help pick her clothes, food, pretty much everything. She is pretty decisive. We have recently discovered that going to our little Wylie Library can be pretty fun. She enjoys picking books and DVD's. She really likes dinosaurs, Dora, animals, any books with "heartbeats" just pictures of books or anything with hearts on it. She has been potty trained since the end of April and that has been so awesome! She was such a quick learner that I was amazed. I bought one box of training pants just to help her at night and didn't even use a quarter of the box! She has her little crazy moments too. Sometimes when she is crying because she didn't get her way she put her lower lip out in an unusual manner and pouts so perfectly. It's almost comical. That's my baby girl.
Life has been a little stressful with my sister being physically handicapped right now. She has always had the dwarfism, but it hasn't always been so disabling and painful. It is very hard to see her like this and between her and I we are pretty handicapped. She is constantly telling me to sit because I'm supposed to be on bed rest. I'm constantly telling her not to fall, or pick things up, or stand on stools because she just can't risk getting even more neurologically injured right now. Today she had an appointment with the neurosurgeon. I was supposed to go with, but couldn't because of the whole bed rest thing. It is very hard for both of us because we want to be there to help each other and it is almost impossible because of or physical set backs right now. I continue to pray and realize that these situations are ever changing and hopefully temporarily. I pretend to find comfort in knowing that anything could happen to anyone at any given time. Life is so precious, fragile and temporary. I think that I've conditioned myself to think this way secondary to working in the ER. The only problem/not problem, is that thus far I've only had to face this ideal with patients and their families...not my own. I love my family so much and I'm so thankful for all my supportive friends. Love you all!
